New York author and lecturer, Barnet Schecter ( George Washington’s America: A Biography Through His Maps ), who also leads walking tours of New York City, will present " George Washington's New York ," based on his walking tour of Lower Manhattan, at noon in the AGS Library. The talk will be tied to the 1766 map of New York by John Montresor as a sort of trail guide for discovering the many features that still remain from the 18th century.
Mr. Schecter is in town to deliver the annual Holzheimer Maps and America lecture , which will be held Tuesday evening (talk at 6 pm, reception at 5 pm)
